Project Title: Globalization Lived Locally: Looking at Kerala's Labor Market through a Labor Geography Framework
Abstract of Project :
My current research project, supported by the labor geography framework, analyzes how spatial practices of labor, shape the economic geography of capitalism by looking into a model at a very local scale of organization, and showing its effectiveness while confronting social actors organized at global or extra-local scales. Questioning global stereotypes on economic responses to globalization we argue, that labor actively involves in the very process of globalization and expansion of capital; empirically demonstrating the relevance of this in the globalization literature. My emphasis will be on one region – Kerala – and processes in its labor markets.
